The Works

We’re talking about the music we play. This is the official repertoire blog of the musicians of the Oregon Symphony.
Barber, Souvenirs

We played the Hesitation-Tango movement of Samuel Barber’s Souvenirs at the Waterfront park concert, as a preview to our February performance. His orchestral colors and gestures are every bit as suggestive and charged as the title implies. For those familiar with Barber’s music but not this piece, you’ll hear the spash and verve you would expect, with even more irony than usual.
