The Works

We’re talking about the music we play. This is the official repertoire blog of the musicians of the Oregon Symphony.
Bartok, The Miraculous Mandarin

I often tell people who express reservations about dissonant or harsh music that it would be disappointing if art museums only had pictures of beautiful flowers or if Shakespeare only wrote plays with happy endings. This amazing work will affect you deeply; I’m sure of it. I’ve been dying to play it since I first heard it. Read the story in the program notes, listen to it being told through Bartok’s music, and experience one of our seasons true musical hightlights.
