Micah Wilkinson, Third Trumpet & Utility Trumpet

Micah joined the Oregon Symphony in 2008. Venturing far from his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, he earned a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and continued his studies at Arizona State University. Prior to moving to Portland, he played Third Trumpet with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and performed frequently as a member of the Tucson Symphony Brass Quintet. He has performed the Haydn Trumpet Concerto and the Jolivet Concertino with the St. Olaf Orchestra, and from 2004-2006, while a student at St. Olaf, he played Second Trumpet in the LaCrosse Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin. He was selected to study at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg, Germany, in 2005, and at the International Festival Institute at Round Top, Texas, in the summers of 2003, 2004 and 2006. His primary teachers include Dr. Martin Hodel, David Hickman, Anthony Plog, Tom Booth, and Larry Black.

Micah enjoys exploring the city of Portland and hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with his beautiful wife, Stefani.
