Alicia Waite, Fourth Horn
Alicia Waite was appointed to the Oregon Symphony horn section in 2008. Prior to joining the OSO, she held positions with the Milwaukee Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In addition to her symphonic work in Virginia, she performed with the Norfolk Chamber Consort and as a guest soloist on The Organ Swell recital series each spring. During the summer months, Alicia has performed with the Santa Fe Opera, Britt Festival, Shaker Mountain Opera, and will join the Grand Teton Music Festival for the first time in 2011.
Although Alicia is an Oregon native, born in Bend, she grew up mostly in Fort Collins, Colorado. Alicia moved to the Midwest after high school to continue her formal education in music. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Horn Performance from Lawrence University and her Master of Music degree, also in Horn Performance, from Northwestern University where she studied with William Barnewitz and Gail Williams. In her free time Alicia enjoys yoga, running, biking, and hiking. She also loves to travel, create scrapbooks, and read.
